Plunkett and Macleane

I'll start in the familiar world of film soundtracks. Well, film scores actually. The Orchestral meanderings that play over your favourite dramatic scenes. The music that makes a film you might've dismissed otherwise suddenly feel like a masterpiece. When Plunkett and Macleane came out, my friend and I were huge Jonny Lee Miller fans (oh, Sick Boy, how you tainted our childhood...), so of course we went on opening weekend. We were young and fickle and Titanic wasn't long out of our minds. I would've taken a long daytime nap had it not been for the superb score accompanying the overblown nonsense of this film (that I still can't decide to whether I love or hate). The execution/rescue scene was the standout for me. Here was a decent scene made stunning with the overlay of a frenzied classical style piece, that slowed down only to rev up again with a modern beat latched on.

So here are two tracks from the Plunkett and Macleane score. I haven't seen this film for some time, but the music has stuck with me. In the film, this runs as one track, but it is titled as two separate tracks on the score.

Next I will be culling from the world of survival horror game music. No, no! Don't switch off. There is some beautiful music to be found in this genre.
